On October 17-18, 2024, the Sixth Dean’s Forum of the Union of Schools of Political Science and International Relations (USPIR) and the International Symposium on “Building a World of Peaceful Development, Common Security and Coexistence of Civilizations” commemorating the 80th Anniversary of the United Nations were held at Fudan University in Shanghai, China.
Representing the Academy of Public Administration, Vice-Rector Elmira Orazalieva and Head of the Center for Educational Policy Gulsara Junusbekova participated in the events.
At the panel session “The UN and Its Future Agenda,” Vice-Rector E.N. Orazalieva delivered a report titled “Preparing Leaders of a New Formation in an Era of Change,” highlighting the conceptual importance of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s address at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. The report emphasized the relevance of reinforcing the “fundamental principles of sovereignty” and the “responsibility” toward future generations as key directions for training new leaders. The important role of the Academy in shaping competency-based approaches to the retraining and professional development of civil servants was also emphasized.
Head of the Center for Educational Policy, G.A. Junusbekova, spoke about the Academy’s role in enhancing civil servants’ competencies in strategic decision-making and effective governance amid changing geopolitical realities.
A bilateral meeting was also held with Professor Su Changhe, Dean of the School of International Relations and Public Affairs (SIRPA) at Fudan University. The parties discussed approaches to organizing educational and research processes, possibilities for academic mobility programs for graduate and doctoral students, and joint research projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides expressed interest in strengthening cooperation through the implementation of concrete joint projects and the exchange of best practices.
