The Institute of Diplomacy is the sole specialized institution in Kazakhstan dedicated to the training of professional diplomatic personnel and specialists in the field of international relations.
Mission:
To train a skilled cadre of practitioners in international relations capable of performing effectively at various levels of public administration.
Vision:
A systematic and progressive advancement of the Kazakhstani school of diplomacy, with continuous professional support throughout a diplomat’s career to foster intellectual development through specialized diplomatic training
Goal:
To prepare professional diplomatic personnel fluent in two foreign languages, with a strong country and regional studies background, based on the modernization of the diplomatic service, competency-based and practice-oriented approaches.
Key Features:
- The primary student body consists of Ministry of Foreign Affairs staff and employees of other government bodies involved in implementing international activities.
- The academic staff of the Institute comprises active, practicing diplomats, as well as experts with substantial experience in teaching international relations disciplines.
- Regular meetings are held between students and representatives of the political elite through the “Embassy Hours” format: guest lectures are delivered by Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors of foreign states accredited to the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as prominent public figures.
- Internships take place in leading diplomatic academies worldwide.
- The Institute currently employs 17 people, including 2 Doctors of Science, 3 PhDs, and 9 Candidates of Science. Nine staff members hold diplomatic ranks, including four with the rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.

MASTER OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS (MIR)
Target Audience:
The program is designed for employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other governmental institutions involved in international affairs.
Program Goal:
To prepare professionals in the field of international relations, capable of addressing the pressing foreign policy challenges of the Republic of Kazakhstan and safeguarding national interests on the international stage.
Expected Outcomes:
The program is focused on the development of professional, analytical, and linguistic competencies, the mastery of comparative analysis tools, and the cultivation of negotiation skills.
Program Duration:
1.5 years

- the faculty consists of experienced specialists and practitioners, including serving and retired diplomats (Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassadors, Ambassadors at Large, heads of departments within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and employees of international organizations and analytical centers.

DOCTOR OF INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS (DIR)
A program designed to train highly qualified professionals capable of conducting independent scientific research in the field of international relations based on a systematic and in-depth mastery of methods of applied analysis and research activities.
The program integrates the study of modern international theories and concepts, current key issues in politics and security, as well as Kazakhstan’s foreign policy priorities and national interests.
Program Goal:
To train leading expert-researchers in the field of international relations.
Expected Outcomes:
Graduates will be able to generate new ideas in international relations and conduct research based on contemporary international theories and methods of foreign policy analysis.
