At the Academy, the first doctoral dissertation in the field of water diplomacy has been successfully defended

At the Institute of Diplomacy of the Academy of Public Administration, doctoral candidate Albina Prniyazova successfully defended her dissertation on the topic:
“Transboundary Water Resources in Central Asia: Development and Prospects of Kazakhstan’s Diplomacy.”

In his Address to the People of Kazakhstan on September 8, 2025, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized: “Water is a strategic resource; without water, there is no life.”
The President noted the importance of training qualified specialists in the field of water diplomacy as a crucial tool for the sustainable development of international cooperation in the preservation of water resources.

In her research, Albina Prniyazova developed a model for the development of Kazakhstan’s water diplomacy and proposed a scientific definition of the term “water diplomacy.”

By the decision of the Dissertation Council dated October 29, 2025, she was awarded the academic degree of Doctor of International Relations.

This work is one of the first dissertations in Kazakhstan devoted to the topic of water diplomacy.
