In 1990 Aigul Kosherbayeva graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy and Economics of Kirov Kazakh State University (now Al-Farabi Kazakh National University) majoring in political economy.
Aigul Kosherbayeva began her career in 1991 as a research assistant at the Department of Economic Theory at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University. From 1995 to 2001 she worked as the lecturer at the Department of International Economic Relations, from 2001 to 2002 as the Director of the Center for the World Market Studies at the RSBSE “Economic Research Institute”, from 2005 to 2012 as the Director of the project analysis and evaluation group of “Kazmunaygas Consulting”, Senior Manager of LLP “United Chemical Company” of JSC “Samruk-Kazyna”, Director of the Center for the development of manufacturing industries at JSC “Kazakhstan Institute of Industry Development”.
From May 2012 to October 2016 she worked at the following positions in the “Economic Research Institute” JSC of the Ministry of National Economy of the Republic of Kazakhstan:
- Director of the Center for World Economy and Integration Studies, Acting Director of the Center for Regional and Sociological Research (part-time).
- Director of the Center for Regional and Social Analysis.
During her work years in the Economic Research Institute, she developed specific practice-oriented recommendations used by government agencies and international organizations in the development of strategically important documents for the Republic of Kazakhstan:
- “The Concept of entering Kazakhstan into the number of 30 developed countries of the world”;
- Forecast Scheme of Territorial-Spatial Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2020;
- “The Concept of entering the city of Astana in the number of 10 successful cities of the world,
- State Program for Infrastructure Development “Nurly Zhol”;
- State Program for Development of Regions until 2020;
- Program for Industrial and Innovative Development until 2020;
- Strategic Plan of the Republic of Kazakhstan until 2025.
Since 2014 she has been working at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan as an Associate Professor (part-time), a full-time Professor at the Institute of Management.
From December 2016 to February 2018 Aigul Kosherbayeva worked as the Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, Research and International Partnership.
From February to September 2018 she worked as the Director of the Institute for Applied Research at the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In September 2018 she was appointed as the Vice-Rector for Strategic Development, Research and International Partnership of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Married, has 2 children.
