The assessment center is the most effective method for a comprehensive evaluation of the success of an employee / candidate, diagnosing his likely behavior through modeling and involvement in activities close to real work situations.
History of the assessment center. Initially, the assessment center was used to select senior officers of the armies of Germany, Great Britain, as well as US intelligence before and during World War II. Later, this technology was borrowed by businesses for personnel selection in such companies as IT&T, IBM, Xerox, Mars, Siemens, Nestle, Shell and others.
Tasks of the assessment center:

- Conduct a reliable assessment of the competence of the employee / candidate;

- Assist in the formation of the organization’s personnel reserve;
- In order to increase the effectiveness of training programs and advanced training, develop proposals for their content.
The main principles of the assessment center:
- Complexity of the assessment. Each participant participates in several exercises, in which it is possible to demonstrate all the competencies that are interesting for the organization, the assessment is carried out by several assessors;
- Objectivity of the evaluation. The evaluation includes independent experts, each of which evaluates several evaluations that fall on the cumulative frequency;
- Competence model corresponding to the interests of the organization. The assessment process is preceded by the development of a competency model for an effective employee in coordination with the organization’s management;
- Equal opportunities for each participant. All assessment center exercises allow each participant to equally demonstrate their competencies;
- Only the demonstrated behavior is evaluated, the reasons for such behavior are not evaluated. This allows you to predict the possible behavior and efficiency of an employee in real work situations.
